How To Achieve Definition

Updated: Sep 10, 2019

The majority of people in the gym want definition! Here are my tips to achieve a more defined physique -

  • One of the most important things when taking part in any form of training for a goal is CONSISTENCY, this is no different for when training for definition. Consistent training is the only way you will end up with a physique you are happy with, training between 3-5 times per week is what you need to be aiming for to see good progress. Even when you do not feel like working out you must push through. These are the workouts that will make a difference!

  • DIET is one of the most important things in terms of getting into shape and creating a defined physique, you are what you eat! Eat for your goals. You must have a well balanced diet, eat the correct level of protein and make sure you are keeping a track on calorie intake. Like training you must be consistent with your diet.

  • INTENSITY is also very important when training to get defined, you don't have to be slugging away in the gym for hours on end, 45mins - hour is plenty, as long as the workouts are intense. Nothing worth having comes easily.

  • TECHNIQUE over weight lifted is key! You must be performing the exercises correctly in order to target muscle groups properly and get the most out of the exercises. This also helps prevent injury and will allow you to progress and get stronger a lot quicker. I will be writing blogs and providing videos on technique for different compound movements.

  • To build muscle you must LIFT WEIGHTS! Without resistance, muscles won’t grow bigger or stronger. This will help tone the muscles, for women especially who think that lifting weights is going to make you “manly” this will not happen. Rest assured, lifting weights is a must.

  • In terms of your training, you must constantly be trying to reach new targets and PROGRESSION is key. As mentioned in a previous blog, tracking your workouts is vital, so the next time you train you can beat what you did previously! Read our blog on how to progress for more information.
